Safari Joe's takes in various exotic and local abused, neglected, and abandoned animals, like the big cats.
Seven years ago Joe Estes saw the need for a sanctuary for unwanted, abused or neglected animals and formed a non-profit corporation that is today Safari Joe's Wildlife Rescue and Exotic Animal Park. It has become not only a refuge, but also a valuable asset to area communities. The educational programs, contributions to fund-raising events and appearances at many area schools and healthcare facilities demonstrate the operation's continued commitment to improving the quality of life for animals and the people they reach. It is a place where children and adults can watch and interact with animals up close while at the same time awareness and education is learned. A group of over 30 volunteers work together and along side Joe to provide and care for the animals for the remainder of their natural lives. The animal population continues to grow, sometimes at a rate of 5-6 new animals per week, as people continue to donate and abandon animals at the facility.
